What is a House Church, and why have a network?

House churches are just what they sound like, a church that meets on a weekly basis in a house. House Churches usually consist of a pretty small group of people (15-30 depending on the size of the house). The Table is a House Church Network, in that we’re a group of house churches that meet separately three weeks a month, and we come together once a month for a traditional worship gathering.

At The Table we describe our unique structure by saying, “Instead of being a church that has small groups, we are a collection of small groups that are a church.”

Instead of seeing no permanent building as a liability, we see it as an asset. There’s no rent, utilities, or upkeep, it allows us to utilize our resources towards ministry. It also means that we have unlimited potential for growth, if a house church gets too big, we plant a new house church. Our goal is to plant 30 House Churches within 10 years in the East Valley.

We meet in the evening and share a meal together.

We study the word

We’re a part of the Church of the Nazarene. A global denomination in the Wesleyan tradition. Our house churches are focused on building each other up in knowledge and application of God’s word. We take seriously the call to disciple others, everyone is intentionally discipled, whether they’re new to faith or have been a part of the church for decades, we all have room to grow.

We partake in the Lord’s Supper

One of the last acts of Christ’s life was to give us the gift of the Lord’s Supper, an act that connects Christians throughout the world and through time. All are welcome to participate in the Eucharist, it is a unifying act, that connects all of our house churches and brings us closer to God.

All are welcome to The Table

We long to reach the hurting and broken people in our world. Whether you grew up in the church, have never seriously considered faith, or have been hurt by a faith community before. The door is always open and there’s room for one more.
